1. Introduction

Redbricks (“we”, “our”, “the studio”) publishes mobile video games, including CozyCross, a crossword game. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data is collected when you use our website and our games, why, and what your rights are.

By installing or using CozyCross, or by browsing this site, you accept the practices described in this document.

2. Data controller

The data controller is Redbricks. For any question about your personal data, you can write to us at redbricks.gamestudio@gmail.com.

3. Data we collect

CozyCross is designed to be playable without creating an account. We do not ask for your name, email address or phone number in order to play. The data involved is as follows:

a. Data you do not provide to us directly

  • Progress and settings data: completed levels, best times, daily-challenge streaks, chosen language and preferences. This data is stored locally on your device (see section 6).

b. Data collected automatically by our partners

Our game displays advertising through partner ad networks. To operate, these networks may automatically collect certain technical information, such as:

  • Device advertising identifiers (for example the Android Advertising ID / iOS IDFA);
  • Device type, operating system and version, language and country;
  • IP address (used notably for approximate geolocation and fraud prevention);
  • Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks).

This data is collected and shared with our advertising partners for advertising, measurement and fraud-prevention purposes, and may be linked to your advertising identifier. It is not sold in the ordinary sense (see section 10 for California-specific terms).

c. Website data

This showcase website may use audience measurement and cookies strictly necessary for its operation. No advertising profiling is carried out on the site.

4. How we use this data

Data is used solely to:

  • Save and restore your progress and preferences in the game;
  • Show advertising and, where applicable, rewarded ads (for example to reveal a letter);
  • Measure audience, understand overall use of the game and improve it;
  • Ensure security, prevent fraud and diagnose technical issues;
  • Comply with our legal obligations.

Legal basis (GDPR): depending on the case, processing relies on your consent (personalised advertising), on our legitimate interest (improving and securing the game) or on the performance of the service you request.

5. Advertising and third parties

CozyCross uses the Appodeal ad-mediation platform and the ad networks integrated within it in order to offer the game for free. These partners act as controllers or processors for their own processing and have their own privacy policies.

Where regulation requires it (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or California), a consent screen is presented so you can choose between personalised and non-personalised advertising. You can change this choice at any time in the game settings or your device settings.

On iOS, a system permission (App Tracking Transparency) is requested before any ad tracking; if you decline, only non-personalised ads are served to you.

To find out more, see Appodeal's privacy policy: appodeal.com/privacy-policy, as well as the up-to-date list of partner ad networks: appodeal.com/home/partners-privacy-policies.

6. Local storage on your device

Game progress, best times, streaks and your settings are saved locally on your device (via the app's secure storage). This data is not transmitted to our servers. Uninstalling the game permanently erases this data.

7. Children's privacy

CozyCross is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect identifying personal data from children. Where the game is likely to be used by a children's audience, we ask our advertising partners to serve only non-personalised, age-appropriate ads, in accordance with applicable regulations (for example COPPA and the GDPR). Where the app store's age rating requires it, a minimum age may apply, and users below the required age receive only non-personalised ads.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided us with data, contact us at redbricks.gamestudio@gmail.com so that we can delete it.

8. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited technical data with:

  • Our advertising and audience-measurement partners (see section 5);
  • App stores (Apple App Store, Google Play) for distribution;
  • Competent authorities, where required by law.

9. Data retention

Local data is kept on your device until you uninstall the game or reset your progress. Data processed by our partners is retained in accordance with their own policies and for as long as necessary for the purposes described.

10. Your rights

Depending on your country of residence (notably the European Union, the United Kingdom and California), you have rights over your data: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability, and withdrawal of consent. You can also reset your advertising identifier in your device settings.

To exercise these rights, write to us at redbricks.gamestudio@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).

California residents: sharing advertising identifiers with our partners for personalised advertising may be considered a “sale” or a “share” under the CCPA/CPRA. You can opt out via the game's consent screen and your device's advertising settings (“Limit Ad Tracking”).

11. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data. As no system is infallible, we cannot, however, guarantee absolute security.

12. International transfers

As our partners may be located outside your country, your data may be processed abroad, including outside the European Economic Area. In that case, appropriate safeguards (such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses) are put in place.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect legal or functional changes. The date of the last update appears at the top of the page. In the event of a significant change, we will inform you by an appropriate means.
